Research on Construction Technology of Metal Corrugated Culvert (Part 1)

Jul. 09, 2020

Metal corrugated culvert pipe has excellent mechanical properties, and is easy to install, good durability, in projects in permafrost areas and high and cold regions, metal corrugated culvert pipe can show its superiority. Corrugated culvert pipe suppliers based on the construction practice, the metal corrugated culvert pipe construction requirements, construction technology, construction control technology and on-site inspection were introduced, to provide a certain reference for the construction of metal corrugated culvert pipe.

I. Overview

Culvert is one of the important components in highway engineering. At present, most of the small bridges and culverts are reinforced concrete structures. Most of these structures have different degrees of disease during use, and their geological adaptability is poor. Especially in soft soil and frozen soil areas, the disease is particularly serious. The metal corrugated culvert structure has the advantages of good adaptability to deformation and excellent mechanical properties, easy installation and good durability, and it is favored by Chinese and foreign experts.

2. Construction requirements

2.1. Time requirements.

The construction of corrugated culvert pipe is not restricted by seasons. It can be installed and used in four seasons of the year and the time is short.

2.2. Anti-corrosion requirements. The metal corrugated culvert materials are all metal, and the purchased pipe joints and connecting bolts are all treated with hot dip galvanized anticorrosion treatment, and their thickness is greater than or equal to 84 microns. In addition, due to the inevitable defects and damage of local anti-corrosion coatings, some remedial measures, such as the addition of asphalt coatings, should be taken according to the specific situation.

3. Material requirements

(1) Basic material requirements

In the ordinary land section, since the metal corrugated culvert is a metal structure, its ability to adapt to deformation is strong, and it adopts a gravel foundation with a foundation thickness ≥0.6m. In order to meet the requirements of construction compaction, minimum strength of filler, maximum particle size and frost resistance of foundation. The replacement depth is generally determined according to the local freezing depth. The structure foundation should be avoided as far as possible from the junction between the soft layer and the rock. Spread loosely with gravel to reduce relative displacement. Taking into account groundwater and its impact, it is recommended to use sand and gravel foundation in non-frozen areas. In general, in some areas when the gravel material is scarce or the gravel grade is poor, it can also be replaced with crushed stone, gravel or river (mountain) sand and crushed soil, but it should meet the compaction requirements, minimum strength requirements of the filler, and maximum grain Diameter requirements and frost resistance requirements.
